  • 1 Raw Banana
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 big Onion, chopped
  • 2 medium Tomatoes, chopped

  • 5 Small Onions/Shallots
  • 7 Dry 7-8 Red Chilies

  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
Instructions
    Step by Step Instructions to make Chettinad Vazhakkai( Raw Banana)Fry
  1. Peel the raw banana and cut it into finger-sized pieces.
  2. Add turmeric powder to the banana pieces and mix well. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  3. In a pan, heat 1 teaspoon of oil and fry the items for the paste (coconut, small onions, red chilies, fennel seeds, cumin seeds). Cool and grind into a coarse paste.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan. Sauté the banana pieces until they are soft and 3/4 cooked. Put them on a plate and set aside.
  5. In another pan, heat 1 teaspoon of oil. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, and pepper. Wait until they pop.
  6. Add chopped onions and cook until they are soft. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for a few minutes.
  7. Add the coarse paste and cook until it is a bit dry. Be careful not to burn it.
  8. Add the sautéed raw banana pieces and salt. Mix well and cook on low heat until everything is mixed well.
